Doctorate program access

In general terms, those students holding an official Master degree can access the PhD. program in Systems and Services Engineering for the Information Society. In concrete, this PhD. program is the natural prolongation of the Master in Systems and Services Engineering for the Information Society.

The UE students holding a degree which allows the access to doctorate studies in his country can access to this program.

The access to Ph. D programs in Spain is regulated by governmental laws, in concrete the Real Decreto 99/2011, published on January 28th which regulates offical doctoral studies, and in concrete in its "Artículo 6".

 

Students holding an official Master degree or UE equivalent one

With the goal to guarantee the quality of the doctoral studies followed by the students, the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid has develped an own regulation aimed to look after the research skills of the students. Based on this regulation, those students that didn't follow a Master program qualified as a research program by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (or alternatively a research itinerary) must follow and pass at least 30 ECTS in research learning in one of them. This courses, as the regulation sets, can be composed of courses, seminars and research activities and the students must enroll during the enrollment period.

The Master in Systems and Services Engineering for the Information Society includes in its offer a research itinerary to obtain the required competences.

 

Students outside UE

Students outside the UE can apply for the DISSSI program. In this case the administrative sections of the UPM will analyze the previous studies and the equivalence with the official Master degree in order to establish the learning period workload of the students (when applicable) or recommend a Master program previous to acceding to the PhD. program.
