The Master program organizes the courses to reach the degree of Master in Systems and Services Engineering for the Information society (Máster Universitario en Ingeniería de Sistemas y Servicios para la Sociedad de la Información).

This Master's Degree programme has been validated by the ANECA (National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation).

Objectives

This programme aims at providing students the advanced necessary knowledge for their education, in a professional or research setting as well as in the areas of Information Society and ICT-related technologies, systems, applications and services.

 

Addressed to ...

The Master's Degree programme is intended for Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs engineers and graduates) who wish either to achieve further specialization in their professional activity or to obtain the training on research necessary to follow a doctorate program.
Only the students fulfilling the requirements for admission (see below) may qualify for pre-enrollment. Students coming from similar Master Degrees from other universities can likewise apply for enrollment following the appropriate accreditation of the studies accomplished so far.

 

End-of-course profile

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

  • Design and develop telecommunications systems.

  • Design and develop electronic systems.

  • Develop telematic systems promoting the advance of the Information and Knowledge Society.

  • Develop audio and video services promoting the advance of the Information and Knowledge Society.

  • Study and assess the application of ICTs and their utilization in problem solving following quality, equality and environment-aware criteria.

  • Develop new ICTs promoting equality, mobility and accessibility.

  • Manage, plan and supervise work teams for the development of interdisciplinary projects.

  • Do research on innovative systems and services in the Information and Knowledge Society.

 

Itineraries and specializations


The Master program offers two itineraries:

  1. Professional itinerary. This itinerary prepares the student for the development of specialized professional activity. There are two further specializations:
    • Specialization on Systems.
    • Specialization on Services.
  2. Research Itinerary. This itinerary prepares the student for the beginning of their research activity. It complies with the requirements established by the UPM in the regulation of the research-oriented Master's Degrees (Requirements for the curricula of the Research-oriented Master's Degrees, appendix I). Specific competences of the Specialization on Systems.

  • Design, characterization and deployment of wireless communications systems and services.

  • Analysis and synthesis of electronic circuits for communications systems.

  • Analysis and synthesis of embedded systems with integrated operating systems.

  • Development of programmable device-based systems.

  • Implementation of data acquisition and automated testing systems using advanced instrumentation techniques.


Specific competences of the Specialization on Services.

  • Analysis and development of processing techniques for the improvement of audio and image signals.

  • Analysis and development of software applications and protocols for advanced telematic systems.

  • Specification and design of advanced telematic systems.

  • Development of systems for ubiquitous and safe service.

 

Admission profiles.

Admission to the Master's degree programme is aimed to students fulfilling the following profiles:

1.- Graduados/as en Ingeniería (Engineering graduates) on the field of Information and Communications Technology, particularly:

  • Graduado/a en Ingeniería de Sistemas de Telecomunicación (Graduate on Communications Systems Engineering).

  • Graduado/a en Ingeniería Electrónica de Comunicaciones (Graduate on Communications Electronic Engineering).

  • Graduado/a en Ingeniería de Sonido e Imagen (Graduate on Sound and Image Engineering).

  • Graduado/a en Ingeniería Telemática (Graduate on Telematic Engineering).

  • Graduado/a en Ingeniería del Software (Graduate on Software Engineering).

  • Graduado/a en Ingeniería de Computadores (Graduate on Computer Engineering).

  • Graduado/a en Ingeniería Informática (Graduate on Engineering of Informatics).


2.- Ingenieros/as Técnicos (Technical Engineers) on the field of Information and Communications Technology, particularly:

  • Ingeniero/a Técnico de Telecomunicación, especialidad en Sistemas de Telecomunicación (Technical Engineer on Communications Systems).

  • Ingeniero/a Técnico de Telecomunicación, especialidad en Sistemas Electrónicos (Technical Engineer on Electronic Systems).

  • Ingeniero/a Técnico de Telecomunicación, especialidad en Sonido e Imagen (Technical Engineer on Sound and Image Communications).

  • Ingeniero/a Técnico de Telecomunicación, especialidad en Telemática (Technical Engineer on Telematic Communications)

  • Ingeniero/a Técnico Industrial, especialidad en Electrónica Industrial (Technical Engineer on Industrial Electronics).

  • Diplomado/a en Informática (BSc on Computer Science).


Students coming from these profiles are required to attend complementary courses.

3.- Ingenieros/as (Engineers) on the field of Information and Communications Technology, particularly:

  • Ingeniero/a de Telecomunicación (Telecommunications Engineer).

  • Ingeniero/a Informático (Computer Science Engineer).

  • Licenciado/a en Informática (MSc on Computer Science)

  • Ingeniero/a Industrial (Industrial Engineer)


4.- EHEA-compliant graduates on the field of Information and Communications Technology with the right to attend a Master Degree course in their own countries.

5.- Non-EU students with an accredited certificate on the field of Information and Communications Technology or fulfilling the appropriate requirements may likewise qualify for admission.

 

Cost.

The public fees for graduate studies at the University are set each year (in July) by the Comunidad de Madrid by decree, within the limits established by the University Coordination Council.
