Graduate Programs

The ETSIST, in an effort to provide an attractive and educational opportunities enables students to improve their studies in different university courses, currently offers the following graduate programs as follows:

  • Master in Systems and Services Engineering for the Information Society (MISSSI).
  • Ph.D. in Systems and Services Engineering for the Information Society (DISSSI). (RENOVATED PLAN)
  • Ph.D. in Systems and Services Engineering for the Information Society (DISSSI). (OLD PLAN)
  • Master in Acoustical Engineering for Building and Environment (MIAEMA). (In extinction)
  • Master in Acoustical Engineering (MIA)

The programs are defined and structured in line with the Bologna Declaration and the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), measuring student workload in ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).

 

Master in Systems and Services Engineering for the Information Society (MISSSI) (More information)


These Master studies have been verified by the Student Plan Credentials Committee of the University Council at its meeting on March 10, 2010 based on the positive report issued by the ANECA
(National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation).

 

Objectives

The Master Degree Program aims to provide students with advanced knowledges oriented to vocational training, or to their research training on technologies, systems, applications and services related to the Information Society, and in particular with the Information and Communications Technologies.

The Master Program is especially addressed to graduates, engineers, lawyers, engineers, bachelors and graduates in the field of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) seeking greater levels of professional expertise or wanting to obtain a research training access to doctoral studies.

May access to the Master program through pre-registration, students with the outlined degrees in income profiles listed below. Access can be also requested by those transfer students who apply for a similar Master Degree program to the currently ongoing studies with similar characteristics with the appropriate credit recognition.

 

Access Profile

Access profiles to the Master program are:

1 .- Graduates in Engineering in the area of Information and Communication Technologies.

2 .- Engineers in the area of Information and Communication Technologies.

3 .- Engineers in the area of Information and Communication Technologies.

4 .- EHEA Degrees in the field of Information and Communication Technologies that provide access to Master programs in their respective countries.

5 .- Non-European students may also access the Master program with validated degrees or that meet the equivalent workload requirements whose teachings are developed in the area of  Information and Communication Technologies.

Objectives

The Doctoral program is primarily aimed to training researchers in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The objectives of the PhD program are:

1. Research and innovation in telecommunication emerging systems for the Information Society.

2. Research and innovation in electronic systems for the Information Society.

3. Research in innovative telematic services that promote the implementation of the Information Society and Knowledge.

4. Research and innovation in emerging audiovisual services that promote the implementation of the Information Society and Knowledge.

5. Investigate the applications of Information and Communication Technologies and its use in problem solving according to the criteria of equity, quality and environment.

 6. Investigate new Information and Communication Technologies that promote equality, mobility and accessibility.

 

Addressed to ...

DISSSI Doctoral Program is especially addressed to master, engineers and graduates in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) seeking an appropriate research training, culminating in the writing and defense of the thesis, and enabling to fully develop their R+D+i activity.

 

Access Profile

Generally speaking may access to the program to the Systems and Services Engineering for the Information Society Ph.D. students who has obtained a Master degree throughout an Official Master Program. In particular, this doctoral program is a natural continuation of the Master in Systems and Services Engineering for the Information Society.

Master in Acoustical Engineering for Building and Environment (MIAEMA) (In extinction)

From the academic year 2009/2010, the E.U.I.T. Telecommunications and E.T.S. of Architecture offer the Official Master Degree in Acoustical Engineering Building and Environment (MIAEMA). These studies are designed in accordance with R.D. (Royal Decree) 1393/2007, being the first of the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid to be approved by the University Coordination Council. Therefore, it is designed along the line with the Bologna Declaration and the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), measuring the student school workload in ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).

These Master studies have been verified by the ANECA (National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation) and by the University Coordination Council at its meeting in March 3, 2009.

 

Objectives

The primary objective of the Master Program is to prepare professionals in the area of Acoustic Engineering, which main target is the professional development. From this point of view, the Training Program provides a special interest in professional areas with more social and professional demands in the area of acoustic engineering. The specific goals to be developed in this Master are:

  • Analyzing, specifying, designing, planning, implementing and maintaining systems and acoustic equipments.
  • Design, evaluate and manage technical and audio processing tools and sound recording, processing and transmission.
  • Projects development and designing and acoustic insulation of buildings and installations of PA.
  • Perform project and design of electroacoustic transducers.
  • Develop projects and designs of noise and vibration control.
  • Perform local projects and designs for production and recording of audio and video signals, acoustic treatment and quality control.
  • Management, administration and business consultancy and acoustic noise.
  • Participation in research projects, development and innovation in the field of Acoustics and Noise.

 

Graduate Program Degrees

The graduate courses leading to a master degree last two semesters. Students must take 60 credits, including the Final Master Project for the official Master in Acoustical Engineering for Building and Environment at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.


Access Profile for Master Studies

The Master program proposes to allow access to qualified holders of any degree related to the topic of the Master. The minimum entry requirements to the Master program may be specified.

Besides the graduates access to the Master program may be granted to Engenier Bachelors, by request.

The ideal admission profile may be for current graduates belonging to the program in Telecommunications Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Architect, Telecommunications Engineer (majors in Sound and Image), Industrial Engineer and Architect.

In other cases the origin of current students with other degrees of long or short cycle, can be subjected to the Academic Committee which may decide about the student admission and the required skills for the admission into the applied study program.
