What is an internship?
According to Decree 1707/2011, which regulates the internships of university students, constitute an activity of a formative nature carried out by university students and supervised by universities, whose objective is to allow them to apply and complement the knowledge acquired in their academic training, favoring the acquisition of skills that prepare them for the exercise of professional activities, facilitate their employability and promote their capacity for entrepreneurship.
They can be carried out in the university itself or in collaborating entities, such as companies, institutions and public and private entities in the national and international scope.
The ETSI Telecomunication Systems, in its regulations on internships approved by the School Board includes within the scope of this definition the scientific and technological entities of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, in activities linked to R&D&I projects, or those that the University considers relevant.
Given the formative nature of internships, its realization will not, in any case, result in any obligations inherent to an employment relationship, nor will its content lead to the substitution of the employment benefit of jobs.
Likewise, and in the event that at the end of the studies the student joins the staff of the collaborating entity, the time of the internship will not be computed for seniority purposes nor will it exempt the probationary period except in the appropriate collective agreement. applicable was expressly stipulated otherwise.
