The Electronic and Microelectronic Design Group (GDEM) is a Recognized Research Group of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). Their members belong to the Department of Telematic and Electronic Engineering (DTE), sited at the Technical School of Telecommunication Engineering and Systems (ETSIST).

The Group is part of the Research Center on Software Technologies and Multimedia Systems for Sustainability (CITSEM), whose web includes now the updated information of GDEM.

The activity of the Group focuses on carrying out R&D projects in collaboration with Industry, as well as through public funded calls, mainly in the following work lines:

  • Digital video coding
  • Power/energy consumption optimization on multimedia handheld terminals
  • Estrategic decision making from methodologies of technological surveillance and/or prediction
  • Smart city technologies: augmented reality and ambient intelligence
  • Multiprocessor achitectures for software radio applications
