Technologies for Internet Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing

Specialization description and goal

The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) offers a specialization track of the EIT Digital core master on Internet Technology and Architecture focusing on "Technologies for Internet Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing".

Ubiquitous and mobile devices have deeply penetrated in our daily life and are found everywhere surrounding us as a set of "invisible" devices integrated in the environment. Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing technologies and architectures allow interconnected devices to become embedded. Mobile devices and computers (of any kind) are present everywhere, sometimes hidden so well (ubiquitous computing) that we don't even realize they are there.

Internet ubiquitous and mobile computing area, which exploits wireless communication technologies and architectures and can provide tailored context aware services, is rapidly evolving. Smart cities (including smart homes, smart offices and so on) push to integrate these technologies.

The deployment of ubiquitous and mobile computing requires the development of appropriate technologies and architectures to support this idea.

As a consequence this specialization responses to the new challenges and hence its main goal is the development of technologies and architectures as key enabling means for the development and evolution towards the next generation Internet ubiquitous and mobile computing systems, applications and services. The specialization provides an appropriate base in theoretical and practical concepts, technologies and skills which emphasize the future development including mobile communications, signal processing, embedded systems, advanced architectures and ubiquitous networks.
