ARTEMI+: Architectures for portable, multinetwork and multistandard multimedia terminal. Funding MCYT Duration 2006 - 2009 Summary
This project appears as a continuation of the ARTEMI project, where complex-system design methodologies were proposed, having multimedia terminals for broadcasting nets as reference applications. The fundamental aim of this new project, ARTEMI+, is to continue the research in the definition of user's terminals for the mean-term future, proposing for this purpose particular aims like: 1. Synthesis and accomplishment of an architecture based on SDR for the integration of heterogeneous net interfaces. Specifically, we expect to experiment with DVB-H, DAB/DMB and WiFi. 2. Research about optimization methodologies of video decoders over DSP, specifically H.264 and SVC decoders. 3. Research about implementation methodologies of FPGA-based video decoders with embedded processors, particularly for the standard H.264. 4. Research about new super-resolution algorithms to improve the quality of compressed video at low resolution. 5. Research about consumption optimization techniques from the operating system level. 6. Definition and implementation of a polyvalent user interface which gives to the user a natural and transparent access to the contents. |
