Summary

In this project we designed an acoustic warning device for cars to substitute the parts which are currently electro-mechanical by other electronic ones. This substitution increases the device lifetime and decreases its EMI level. However, it must be ensured that the horn works at its resonant frequency, which implies to include a feedback mechanism within the set. Since the use of conventional sensors for this purpose is industrially unfeasible, the problem has been solved by analysing the coil current waveform.

This design has been patented and is now being exploited by Robert Bosch. Besides, this project has given rise to the completion of a PhD Thesis by one of the GDEM members.
